Convention Registration and Hotel Registration
Please complete your Convention registration forms and return them to the International office with your registration fees within 10 business days. If you have misplaced your form you will be able to download a new one from our Convention website, www.atuconvention2016.com Convention registration can be completed by the following:

An acknowledgement letter confirming your Convention registration and hotel reservation will be mailed to you by the International office. Please note you will be responsible for room charges and upon arrival be required to present a credit card for all charges. Locals may pay the hotel directly in advance by check. The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel guest room rate is $189 plus applicable taxes per night for single or double accommodations.
Airport Shuttle Service
Shuttle Service to Convention Hotel ATU shuttle service will be provided from the Toronto Pearson International Airport to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. Look for the ATU Greeters who will direct you to the ATU Shuttles which run every half-hour on:

Saturday, October 1, from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Sunday, October 2, from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Return Shuttle to Toronto Pearson International Airport Return shuttle service will be provided from the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel to the airport every half-hour on:

Friday, October 7th from 12:00 Noon – 8:00 PM

Saturday, October 8th from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Checking In
You will find it advantageous to check-in as soon as you get to the hotel, even though you may not be able to get into your room until 3:00 PM.  Ask the bellman to store your luggage.
Tuesday Niagara Falls Excursion
On Tuesday, October 4, delegates and guests will have the opportunity to be transported to Niagara Falls for an afternoon of entertainment. At Niagara Falls, attendees can choose to take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist, take in the beautiful sights of one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, or enjoy the numerous restaurants and attractions offered at nearby Clifton Hill. More information on this event will be provided at a later date.

Delegate Credentials
Once the International has processed your local union’s membership report for the month of May, we will mail credentials to your financial secretary. Included will be the original version of the credentials as well as a duplicate copy. Please complete both the original credentials and duplicate credentials, ensuring that each contains the local union’s seal, the signature of the president, and the signature of the recording secretary. The original credentials must then be returned to the International. The duplicate copies must be brought to the Convention. Without your credential duplicate, you will not be seated as a delegate.
Convention Registration
Delegates and guests must also register at the ATU registration counter at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in order to have the materials necessary to attend and participate at the Convention. Look for signs directing you to the ATU Convention registration counter. Convention registration will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel on Saturday, October 1, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, October 2, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Late registration will also be held on Monday, October 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. Convention badge: Wear your badge at all times! Delegates and guests are required to show their badge to gain admittance to the Convention hall (Grand Ballroom).
Convention Events
  • Welcoming Reception The 58th  Convention welcoming reception will be held in the Grand Ballroom Sunday evening, October 2, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Business casual attire is recommended.
  • Opening Ceremony Delegates and guests are invited to assemble in the Convention hall (Grand Ballroom) for the opening ceremony which will begin promptly at 9:00 am – Monday, October 3rd.
  • ATU Dinner and Entertainment A dinner will be held on Wednesday, October 5, beginning with a cocktail reception at 6:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom Foyer.  Dinner and entertainment follows at 7:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom.  Table assignments are provided for the banquet, so check the table number on your banquet ticket before you enter.  Business attire is required.

  • Daily Proceedings Convention proceedings will be available to all attendees on the day following the sessions.
  • Important notices Please check the signs that are posted outside the Convention hall for notices regarding the committee meetings and locations.
  • Convention business and announcements Delegates are expected to attend all of the scheduled sessions and to be prompt in arriving to the Convention hall. Important announcements are often made from the podium, and raffled gifts are awarded at the end of each session.
  • Courtesy We ask that those who wish to discuss some matter or to socialize, do so well away from the Convention hall area so as not to distract those working inside.  Please silence all cell phones during Convention proceedings.
  • NOTE: Travelers Flying to ATU Convention Must Have a Valid United States Passport Please refer to the Convention Call for additional information.
